Color Me, a coloring app best

There are several coloring apps already out there and some of the are very good. But making a great coloring app is not an easy task and I believe that the guys who made Color Me actually got it.
What makes an app great are the little details. From the quality of the drawings, the quick response when you touch a part to color it, the interaction with the tools, the choice of colors. Color Me is got it all! My 3 yo said out of his head he loved it (believe, having seen a lot of apps, he is very picky)!

You boys’ parents out there will certainly join me on this one: a young boy just can’t have enough of cars, trucks and all sorts of vehicles, can’t he? So pay attention to this app, because Truck Modz is a boy’s dream come true: virtually endless combinations of trucks. Change type, wheels, colors, press on lights, sirens, radio, all combinations possible to have a world of little trucks on a single app with professional graphics and sounds.
Do spend some time playing around with your kid and showing him de possible combinations. It is all there even if not very clear right from the beginning. There will be need for some exploration here to discover all the possibilities.

Limited notes on the instruments are a help for easy compositions. The illustrations look great and there is always something funny to be expected from the little animals.

So here’s LifeBoat Luke’s iPhone app version! The great series of 52 5-minute cartoon episodes that are now being transformed into apps, with episode 1, ‘Rubberduckadoo’ already out and more to come.
You can choose to simply watch the episode or play a search and find game looking for objects within the movie. For the ones who didn’t know Lifeboat Luke (we didn’t!), it is a beautiful designed cartoon, with cute characters and great animation exploring the world of the seas (see video bellow). Certainly worth having on your kid’s repertoire!

Lola’s Flag Adventure: it’s time to learn the flags!

Lola’s Flag Adventure is a memory game with flags for images. The largest countries of Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific are covered here and the game comes with different levels of difficulty which makes the app accessible to the little kids. Great design and nice voice guidance in English and Chinese (simplified). It is certainly a great chance to learn the flags while playing!

Little Red, all-time classic

If you are planning on having the all-time classic story Little Red Ridding Hood on your iPhone/iPod Touch interactive book library search no more: this is the one to have. Beautiful illustrated (by Simone Abel) with sound effects, the option to read or listen to the story and — a plus — a coloring book.
Advisory: the classic story is quite vivid on this one. The grandmother and Little Red actually get eaten by the wolf before the woodcutter comes right away and rescues everybody. So depending on the version you use to tell your kids, make sure to prepare them before you reach the end.
Although a little pricy (compared to similar apps) this is still a great buy.

OK, so the holidays are almost over, but tell it to my son. He keeps playing Dress Jinjee and sending customized ginger virtual cookies and real voice messages to all family and friends. Dress Jinjee is a virtual ginger cookie customization app that you can add voice messages and send it through email right from the iPhone.
Customization is so easy and powerful and recording voice real fun. I take care of the email part, but he will tell me who to send it to. No need to say how surprised and happy friends and family get when receiving the card and listening to the recorded voice!

Color Collector, a quest for colors!

As more and more apps get developed and offered to the market, some companies start to get noticed for the quality of what they manage to create. That is certainly the case of Tickle Tap Apps, and they have a new great app called ‘Color Collector’. This is certainly one of a kind.
‘Color Collector’ challenges kids to find colors on the physical world using the iPhone camera. As they find a color and click, the app matches the color against a color wheel and gives a corresponding star for the color that was found. More than a color learning game, this one actually exercises motor coordination, the use of the camera and the exploration of the world in a great learning experience! No doubts, a TOP 10 APP!
For what the app requires in terms of skills, it is recommended for kids from 3 to 5 by the developer. My 3 yo. is having a great time with it!
